Please join us in a hearty “Congratulations!” to Dr. Micheal Bates who has been appointed as the next President of Notre Dame Schools beginning July 1, 2017. Notre Dame Schools in Chardon, OH consists of Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin School (grades 9 – 12) and Notre Dame Elementary School (Pre-school – 8th grade).
Dr. Bates is currently the interim president of Notre Dame Academy, Los Angeles. Previously he was head of school at La Reina High School and Middle School in Thousand Oaks, California. Both Notre Dame Academy and La Reina are sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame.
Dr. Bates holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Catholic University of America and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University of Chicago. He earned his Ed. D. in educational leadership for social justice from Loyola Marymount University.
“I believe in the transformational education that the Sisters of Notre Dame inspire and engage,” Dr. Bates said. “How thankful I am to be entrusted to lead our Notre Dame Schools in these coming years. I look forward to all that we can accomplish together on behalf of our students and school community.”
Dr. Bates and his wife, Nancy, and their two sons, Peter and Brian, will relocate to northeastern Ohio this summer. Welcome back to the mid-west, and to Notre Dame Schools!
