The National Science Teachers Association* affirms that learning science and engineering practices in the early years can foster children’s curiosity and enjoyment in exploring the world around them. It also can lay the foundation for a progression of science learning in K–12 settings and throughout their entire lives. Similar research applies to math and music.
Recognizing the value of teaching basic academic concepts at an early age, Maria Early Learning Center (MELC) in Toledo, OH just put the finishing touches on their new S.T.E.M. classroom and held an open house for students and their families. Oh what fun the students had!!
MELC has been providing quality child care and learning experiences for infants through Pre-K children since 1990. Programs are provided in a nurturing environment rich with opportunities to grow in friendship with a good and loving God. The staff is committed to satisfying children’s’ inquisitive minds and to help the little ones build social and emotional skills necessary for becoming bearers of peace and love. Adding a S.T.E.M classroom is a wonderful addition to an already vibrant setting. Kudus to all at MELC!!
