DoubleARC in Toledo, OH has a lot going on these days! First on the list is a special 25th anniversary celebration which kicks off at DoubleARC’s annual “Kaleidoscope of Children” breakfast. Founded by the Toledo Province Sisters of Notre Dame in 1992, DoubleARC addresses the needs of children and families living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) through diagnosis, intervention and advocacy. The Kaleidoscope of Children breakfast is a wonderful event that includes highlights of the value of the programs DoubleARC delivers and a spotlight or two on children who have successfully navigated through the hardships they were dealt in life.
Creating awareness about the dangers of drinking alcohol during pregnancy is also high on the list. To that end, Double ARC helped to raise awareness of the disorder on International FASDay during an event at nearby Mercy College. Students were joined by Sister Suzette Fisher, one of the founders of DoubleARC and Cheryl Kyser, Lead North West Ohio FASD Network Parent/Caregiver for valuable knowledge about the dangers of drinking while pregnant. It’s a lesson worth learning.

Celebrating milestones is a recurring theme within the partnership. This year marks the centennial anniversary of St. Augustine School in Covington, KY. Dedicating a new school building on September 16, 1916, St. Augustine Parish had actually included the Sisters of Notre Dame since 1875. Now a vibrant K-8 school St. Augustine’s school theme for this year is based on Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”. See below for some happy moments at the school’s re-dedication. Happy 100th birthday to the St. Augustine Community!!
